Sr. Manufacturing Engineer --- Santa Clara, California
Reporting to: Dir. Manufacturing
Responsibilities:
- Plan and coordinate RIOs manufacturing processes
- Develop, evaluate and improve current manufacturing methods by utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, assembly
- methods, production equipment capabilities and quality control standards
- Apply statistical methods to control and improve assembly processes
- Analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements and workflow
- Design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency
- Estimate production times, staffing requirements and related costs to provide information for management decisions
- Collaborate with engineering staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods
Qualifications:
- Fundamental understanding of epoxy and solder-based assembly processes for optoelectronic products
- Proficient in statistical process control (SPC)
- Good understanding of ISO requirements, 3 years minimum experience in ISO environment
- Hands on experience with transferring processes to production personnel and Contract Manufacturers
- Proficient in writing Work Instructions and other manufacturing related documentation
- Good planning and organizational skills for accomplishing manufacturing related tasks
- Experienced in manufacturing related software tools: CAD, SPC, DOE, Doc Control, MRP, Database
- 8 years minimum experience in optoelectronics manufacturing environment
- BS, MS in mechanical Engineering or equivalent

Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) Process Integration Sr. Engineer --- Santa Clara, California
Reporting to: Dir. Manufacturing
Responsibilities:
- Process Integration
- Translate optical design requirements into waferfab process requirements, parameters, and tolerances
- Develop, control and maintain process documentation and design rules
- Transfer process requirements to PLC foundry partners
- Work with PLC foundry partners to solve process/yield problems
- Ensure that PLCs meet specifications and yield targets in volume production
- Characterization of samples
- Develop advanced PLC testing and charaterization methods
- Perform statistical analysis of test results
- Provide feedback to foundry partners to improve wafer fab processes
- Verify design simulations
- Design masks for planar optical waveguide processes
Qualifications:
- Successful fabrication of PLCs through advanced integration of wafer fab processes with optical design
- Solid understanding of process limitations on optical design
- Ability to solve process problems affecting PLC performance & yield
- Demonstrated capability to work with 3rd party vendors to deliver PLCs meeting specifications
- Proficient in Statistical Data Analysis and Design of Experiments
- Experienced in design of optical waveguides in silica-on-silicon (preferred) or other optical material systems
- Min 5 years experience designing or manufacturing PLC-based products
- Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, or Optics

Sr. Electronics Engineer --- Santa Clara, California
Low-Noise Electronic Design Engineer, Reporting to: Dir / VP Engineering
Responsibilities:
- Design, development, and commercialization of board-level analog and digital circuitry to control and drive RIO's narrow linewidth, low-phase noise lasers used in optical sensing applications. Design requirements include:
- Analog interface electronics for ultra-low noise performance at low frequencies 5 Hz to 10 kHz.
- Analog circuits utilizing balanced input or single ended input topology
- Digital control of analog adjustment circuitry
- Low noise, high accuracy temperature control circuitry
- Embedded microprocessor and computer interface
- Low sensitivity to acoustic noise and vibration
- Generate specifications for the circuitry required for the high-fidelity drive and control of low Phase Noise lasers.
- Board-level development: Develop concepts, design prototypes, assemble prototypes, test and debug prototypes, interface prototypes with lasers and characterize, perform design iteration, apply DFM rules, transfer to manufacturing, conduct failure analysis, support customer interaction and field installation, develop operating manuals and application notes.
- Closely interface and communicate with colleagues from other disciplines, including Test, laser design, mechanical design, optical design, laser manufacturing
- Manage internal and external consultants, as needed
- Support interface and communication with customers in defining product requirements
- Develop application notes and travel to customer labs for testing the product in costomer systems
Qualifications:
- Fundamental understanding and hands-on experience in low-noise design at low-frequencies (from Hz to 100's kHz)
- Expertise in analog circuit design, analog signal conditioning and analog signal processing
- Experience in ultra-low noise power supply design
- Experience in Circuit Simulation, Schematic Design, PCB Design, firmware specification and design
- Hands-on experience in low noise printed circuit boards design
- Experience in fiber optic communication circuitry highly desirable
- Experience with customer support and customer interaction highly preferred
- Familiar with relevant industry safety requirements (UL, IEC, CE)
- 5 years minimum industry experience
- BS, MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

- Technical leadership - ability to take responsibility and lead design and implementation effort
- Self-starter, fast learner and a team player
- Good communication skills and good skills in writing technical English
- Able to listen to customer interface requirements and support customer applications
