Redfern Integrated Optics, Inc. (RIO) is First to Demonstrate 10GbE 40km SFP+ transceiver this week at OFC/NFOEC 2007

RIO Announces Transceiver Reference Designs for 1550nm 10G SFP+ and 2.5G DWDM SFP based on its extended temperature low power dissipation ECL TOSAs

Santa Clara, Calif. - March 26, 2007 —Redfern Integrated Optics, Inc. (RIO), a developer and manufacturer of low-cost, high-performance optical transmitters for telecommunications, data transmission and other markets, today announced that it will show a live demonstration of its PLANEXTM technology this week at the 2007 OFC/NFOEC tradeshow in Anaheim, Calif. In booth #1901, RIO will showcase its directly modulated 10Gbps 1550nm External Cavity Laser (ECL) transmitter optical sub-assembly (TOSA) in a 10 Gigabit Ethernet 40km (10GBASE-ER) SFP+ MSA pluggable transceiver module.

RIO plans to offer a complete 10G SFP+ transceiver module reference design based on its low cost and low power dissipation 1550nm planar ECL TOSA for 10 Gigabit Ethernet ER, ZR and DWDM. The reference design package includes transceiver schematics, bill-of-material and layout files. RIO’s 10GbE TOSA products are offered in both standard commercial operating temperature (-5 to 75 degrees C) and an extended industrial temperature (-40 to 85 degrees C).

RIO is also offering 2.5G DWDM SFP transceiver reference design package for long transmission distances of 120km up to 640km suited for extending the reach of Metro Area Network (MAN) applications and eliminating the need for expensive signal regeneration stations

RIO’s 2.5G, 4.25G and 10G TDM and DWDM TOSA products are manufactured on a proprietary hybrid integrated optical platform ensuring superior performance, quality and reliability in a small package and at the lowest cost. All RIO products are RoHS compliant.

About RIO Inc.
RIO (Redfern Integrated Optics, Inc.) develops and manufactures optical transmitters based on a proprietary planar technology (PLANEXTM), which enables transceivers and transponders to deliver telecom-grade performance with datacom economics. RIO's product line includes 2.5 Gbps, 4.25 Gbps and 10 Gbps directly modulated TOSAs meeting the XMD MSA package requirements, with DWDM wavelength stability, at low cost and with low power dissipation. RIO has demonstrated and is productizing the world's first 1550nm 10G commercial laser that employs directly modulated planar-based hybrid laser technology, meeting the reach and stringent performance requirements of Telecom OEMs.
